I wrote the first take of this tune back in November, when the Squeakyanimalstudio site was practically brand new. Unfortunately, the words weren't so great. Never fear, though--Damon, for whose birthday I did the original, came to the rescue with new, really good, words. Depressing, but good.

The instrument tracks are essentially the same in this version, but now there are never fewer than three (and up to ten when Brad and Marg come in as the Justified Ethereal Chorus on the last repeat) vocal tracks all through the song, which I think gives it a nice sinister meatiness. Those creepy octave-down voices are Damon. The bridge was supposed to get sound clips of horrid events from the last year mixed in, but everything I managed to scrounge fit poorly. If anyone has any good ones, send 'em my way and maybe I can do a club mix!

What poor Damon didn't realize, of course, was that it was all a trick. He's now the official Designated Squeaky Goth Poet at Large of this site (between him and Dan I may never have to write words again). The DSGPaL has already been put to work on the other Dark Lyric Failure of this project ("Babylon," which one observer described, somewhat charitably I expect, as "off-putting")
