Apostrophe's (sic) email for mp3
(Banjo and heavy metal banjo, Ben Collins-Sussman; Psycho intro vocal, Marg)

This is a song about hideously misplaced priorities. I should point out that it is non-autobiographical, except for the bit where the protagonist is a snot about grammar.

Two fun things re the recording: first, it involves (as mentioned in my Blog) a long-distance banjo solo by Ben. He probably didn't expect I'd slice up his part and run it through a seriously overdriven guitar amp simulator for the intro, but life is sometimes cruel that way.

The other chunk of amusement comes from when I was tracking Marg. As she reported to some of our friends by email:

Mark's recording bits for the apostrophe song and wanted some total bitch-queen harpy soundbites for the background. I had to work my way up to it, but came up with some pretty convincingly nasty tones which, I'm happy to say, I've never actually used in earnest.

It was so convincing, Riley had to come in and see if everything was okay. She kept pacing back and forth between us with the begging puppy face, as if to say, "Indoor voices okay? Indoor voices."

Poor doggy. I think she liked prog rock better than biting emotional satire.
